Texas Lab Sues HHS Over ‘Arbitrary’ Genetic Testing Denial

A Texas medical laboratory sued the US health department over allegations the agency arbitrarily denied reimbursement for genetic testing for neurological diseases.

The complaint, filed in the US District Court for the Southern District of Texas on Tuesday, claimed that in December 2021, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services abruptly denied payment for genetic tests for conditions like Alzheimer’s, ALS, and Parkinson’s disease that it had previously reimbursed to Houston-based Diax labs that year.
