Texas Justices Seem Poised to Undo Detransitioner’s Timing Loss

Texas’s top court examined a timing issue at oral argument Wednesday that derailed a lawsuit brought by a person who says a mental-health counselor recommended she have gender-affirming surgery without first performing a proper assessment.

The justices seemed sympathetic to plaintiff Soren Aldaco, suggesting the state’s two-year statute of limitations was triggered on the date of the surgery—which she argued was the date of her injury—not the day Barbara Wood wrote a letter clearing her to have a mastectomy to address gender-identity related concerns.
