Texas Imaging Service to Pay $3.5M to Settle FCA Claims

A Texas diagnostic imaging service has agreed to pay $3.5 million to settle allegations that it submitted claims to federal health-care programs without a supervising physician on site, according to a July 22 Department of Justice announcement (United States ex rel. Sifuentes v. Preferred Imaging Ctrs. LLCsettlement announced).

Preferred Imaging Centers will make the payment to resolve allegations that the Dallas-based company improperly billed Medicare, Medicaid and TRICARE for services performed between Jan. 2009 and Feb. 2015 without proper medical supervision—in violation of the False Claims Act and the Texas Medicaid Fraud Prevention Act.
