Tennessee is barred from enforcing a provision intended to prevent abortion advocates from speaking with minors about their options for legal out-of-state abortions, after a federal court deemed the measure unconstitutional.
The law, which makes it a crime to to “intentionally recruit” a minor in Tennessee for an abortion that would be illegal in the state, unconstitutionally restricts the advocates’ free speech based on their viewpoint, the US District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee said July 18.
