Tennessee Health System’s Actions Allow Wyoming Malpractice Suit

A Tennessee-based health system had sufficient contacts with Wyoming to allow a medical malpractice case to proceed there despite the system’s claim it couldn’t reasonably have expected to face litigation in the state, a federal judge in Wyoming said.

The plaintiffs alleged that LifePoint Health Inc. hired and directed employment opportunities toward Wyoming residents, decided to merge its two subsidiary hospitals in the state, directed an employee to sign a deed for Wyoming property, and engaged in community outreach regarding its planned merger.
