Tennessee pharmacists now have the authority to dispense a 90-day supply of certain prescriptions under a bill (H.B. 1768) signed into law by Gov. Bill Haslam (R) March 29.
The new law allows pharmacists to use their professional judgment to provide refills and up to 90-day supplies of maintenance medications unless otherwise specified on a prescription. The authorization doesn’t extend to controlled substances.
