Tenet Healthcare Allegedly Retaliated Against Top Heart Doctor

Tenet Healthcare Corp. allegedly fired a top U.S. heart doctor for refusing to take part in, and pressing executives about, government overbilling.

Tenet took adverse action against physician Theodore Schreiber because he complained it put profits over patient safety, according to a new complaint.

Schreiber sued Tenet April 1 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. Tenet violated the False Claims Act by retaliating against Schreiber for reporting to company executives its alleged noncompliance with a 2016 multi-million dollar agreement that settled prior federal and state FCA allegations, he said.
