Telehealth Use Growing, Reaches 15M Americans, ATA Says

The use of telehealth technologies has grown by as much as 50 percent in the past two years, the head of the American Telemedicine Association said Sept. 17.

The number of telehealth visits rose to 15 million this year from 10 million in 2013, Jonathan Linkous, chief executive officer for the ATA, said at the group’s Fall Forum in Washington. He said the growth in telehealth services has been propelled by health-care organizations’ interest in reducing their care-delivery costs and a growing willingness among doctors to use the technology.
