Abortion Search Data Needs Privacy Shield From Cops, DOJ Told

Tech industry group the Chamber of Progress is urging the Justice Department to rein in law enforcement’s pursuit of digital data like location history in the wake of a Supreme Court ruling overturning a federal right to abortion.

Privacy advocates have warned that records of abortion seekers’ online searches for or visits to reproductive health clinics could be sought as evidence against them in states that ban the termination of pregnancies now that Roe v. Wade has been reversed.
