Sutter, Plaintiffs Agree to $228.5 Million Antitrust Settlement

Northern California health-care provider Sutter Health will pay $228.5 million to resolve claims it forced insurers into contracts with anticompetitive terms, according to a new court filing.

The proposed deal and the plaintiffs’ request for preliminary approval were filed Friday in the US District Court for the Northern District of California. The filing unveils the monetary damages in an agreement inked with Sutter on the eve of a planned trial last month.

If approved, the settlement money would go to plaintiffs including individuals and employers in Northern California who have paid insurance premiums.
