Sunrise Senior Living Faces Residents’ Rights Claim in New York

Sunrise Senior Living Management Inc. will have to answer a claim that it violated a New York law requiring nursing homes to properly care for their residents, a federal court in the state said.

The company didn’t show, based on the limited material before the court on a motion to dismiss, that it isn’t a “residential care facility” covered by the state law, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York said Wednesday.
