A coalition of state attorneys general is asking a federal judge to block the Trump administration from enforcing a federal pause on Medicaid reimbursements to Planned Parenthood and other health centers offering abortion care.
The one-year prohibition on Medicaid funds in the administration’s multi-trillion-dollar tax law is impermissibly ambiguous and violates Congress’ spending clause power, attorneys general for California, Connecticut, and public officials from 20 other states and the District of Columbia, wrote in their lawsuit filed Tuesday in the US District Court for the District of Massachusetts.
