Covid-19 vaccination rates are highest among health-care staff in nursing homes with a nonprofit business structure, longer-tenured workers, higher Medicare quality ratings, and no chain affiliation, new research has found.
The findings, reported Thursday in JAMA Internal Medicine, show average vaccination coverage is lowest among certified nursing aides, who typically provide most direct patient care in nursing homes.
On average, only 49.2% of the aides are vaccinated against Covid-19 compared with 61% of registered and licensed practical nurses, 71% of therapists, and 77.3% of physicians and independent practitioners who work in nursing homes, the study found.
