Split Oklahoma Top Court Halts Three Pre-Dobbs Abortion Laws

A divided Oklahoma Supreme Court barred enforcement of three laws that unnecessarily burden the constitutional right to end a pregnancy when necessary to save the mother’s life.

Building on its March decision that the Oklahoma Constitution protects the right to have an abortion when continuing a pregnancy would threaten the pregnant person’s life, the state’s top court Tuesday put a stop to board-certification, admitting privileges, and 72-hour waiting requirements for women seeking abortions while litigation proceeds.
