South Carolina Loses Bid to End Planned Parenthood Medicaid Pay

A Planned Parenthood affiliate defeated South Carolina’s attempt Tuesday to kick it off the state’s approved Medicaid provider list, teeing up possible U.S. Supreme Court review of who can sue to enforce the federal law that provides health care for the economically disadvantaged.

The federal law gives Medicaid recipients the right to choose qualified medical providers, and gives them the right to sue a state for violating that provision, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit said.
