A coalition of Republican lawmakers wants the federal government to allow consumers to buy vitamins and other dietary supplements using tax-free dollars from health savings accounts.
The Internal Revenue Service should consider dietary supplement purchases to be medical expenses eligible under tax-advantaged accounts without requiring sign-off from a healthcare provider, according to a letter signed by nine House and Senate members, led by Sen. Kevin Cramer (R-N.D.), whose office shared the document with Bloomberg Law.
