Proponents of relaxing federal privacy rules for drug treatment records are growing hopeful they’ll notch a win in the Senate’s opioids package.
Lawmakers and groups representing health systems told Bloomberg Law there’s little opposition to adding a measure to the Senate’s opioids legislation that would make it easier for doctors to find drug treatment records. The change saw opposition from some Democrats earlier in the year, but passed the House with support from liberal leaders like Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.).
