Senate Blocks Move to Change Trump Immigration Review Board Rule

A Democrat-backed measure to repeal a Trump administration rule for immigration review Tuesday fell short of the simply majority needed to advance.

The resolution (S. J. Res. 190) would have overturned an interim final rule, issued by the Executive Office for Immigration Review on Feb. 6, that makes appellate review of an immigration judge’s decision discretionary and time-restricted.

Senators voted 46–48, rejecting a procedural motion to bring the resolution up for a full floor vote.
