Senate Approves Whole Milk’s Return to School Lunch Program

Schools offering children federally funded free or discounted meals could serve them whole and reduced-fat milk under a measure the Senate passed Thursday via unanimous consent.

The bill (S. 222), sponsored by Sen. Roger Marshall (R-Kan.) seeks to change Agriculture Department regulations requiring that milk served in meals to low-income students under the National School Lunch Program be low or fat free.
