SCOTUS Drops Case Over Trump HHS’s Family Planning Gag Rule

The U.S. Supreme Court Monday announced it won’t decide on the legality of a Trump administration rule prohibiting federally funded family planning providers from referring clients for abortion.

The nation’s top court granted a petition for review in the case to decide on the validity of a U.S. Health and Human Services Department’s rule implementing Title X, the only federal program that gives money to family planning providers.

But the Biden administration asked the court to drop the case, arguing it would be moot before it could be decided.
