Sanders Pressures Pharma CEOs on Drug Prices Amidst Lawsuits (1)

Sen. Bernie Sanders wants to put the squeeze on top pharmaceutical executives in person as part of his public pressure campaign trying to lower prescription drug prices.

Passing legislation to address drug costs is challenging because of the pharmaceutical industry’s lobbying influence, but Congress could make inroads by harnessing public scrutiny, Sanders (I-Vt.) said Thursday at a press conference.

“One of the tools we have is public pressure,” Sanders said. “When the American people know what’s going on, it puts pressure on them that helps us lower the cost.”
