RFK Jr. Food Roadmap Includes Ingredient Notices, Package Labels

The Food and Drug Administration this year plans to propose increased oversight of how food manufacturers introduce new ingredients to their products, part of US Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s efforts to tackle chronic disease through changes to the food system.

Officials will publish a proposed rule legally requiring manufacturers to notify the FDA before marketing new substances that are generally recognized as safe to consume, according to a list of the agency’s 2026 priorities for the Human Foods Program published Friday.
