A record 14.5 million people signed up for Affordable Care Act coverage this year using the HealthCare.gov website and state-based marketplaces, the Biden administration announced Thursday.
That’s a 21% increase over the previous record of 12.2 million people who enrolled in federal and state marketplaces in September 2021 following the close of a special enrollment period.
An additional 3 million new consumers signed up for coverage, up 17% from last year, Chiquita Brooks-LaSure, administrator for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, said during a morning press briefing.
