Ballot measures seeking more access to abortion are testing the influence of clergy who see the initiatives in 10 states as an extension of what they preach from the pulpit.

The Florida Conference of Catholic Bishops urged “all Floridians of goodwill” to oppose changing the state constitution (Amendment 4), and along with individual dioceses contributed nearly $1 million to a political action committee opposing the measure.
