Relief Package Dangles New Incentives for Medicaid Expansion (1)

The $1.9 trillion relief package that passed the Senate Saturday makes a strong bid to bring Medicaid expansion to the 12 states that haven’t yet allowed working-age adults to become eligible for the program.

The measure, the American Rescue Plan Act, now heads back to the House, with Democrats aiming to have it signed into law next week. Enactment would hand President Joe Biden his first legislative victory and set the stage for work this spring on a massive infrastructure and manufacturing recovery bill that he wants.
