Red States Seek to Join Abortion Pill Case at Supreme Court

A trio of red states is urging the US Supreme Court to allow them to join in the high-stakes legal fight over the abortion drug mifepristone, a move tailored to keep the case alive should the justices find that the conservative groups behind the litigation had no right to bring a lawsuit in the first place.

Should the justices shoot down the request, the states—Idaho, Kansas, and Missouri—said they were “happy simply” to file a brief in the case, according to the motion to intervene filed Monday.
