Radiation Therapy Company to Pay $11.5M Fraud Settlement

A radiation therapy company agreed to pay $11.5 million to settle a False Claims Act lawsuit alleging that it knowingly submitted to the Medicare program claims that violated the anti-kickback statute, federal prosecutors announced.

The settlement, announced March 29, resolves allegations that Texas-based SightLine Health LLC targeted physicians who would be able to refer patients to the company’s cancer treatment centers and allegedly paid those physicians. Integrated Oncology Network (ION) Holdings, which acquired SightLine in 2011, is also a party in the settlement.
