The top Democrat on the House’s leading health panel called for a hearing on legislation to address abuses of the federal drug approval process that block the creation of cheap generic drugs.
Rep. Frank Pallone Jr. (D-N.J.) asked leading Republicans on the House Energy and Commerce Committee July 9 to hold a hearing on the misuse of a Food and Drug Administration safety program by branded drug companies to block the creation of generic versions of their products. He specifically asked the panel to review two bills meant to address these abuses that have languished in the House.
