Prestige Healthcare Pays $1M to Settle False Billing Allegations

Prestige Administrative Services LLC has agreed to pay nearly $1 million to resolve Justice Department allegations it violated the False Claims Act by falsifying Medicare bills for genetic testing that was not properly ordered or authorized.

The government said in an April 7 settlement agreement that the Louisville, Ky.-based company, which operates residential nursing homes, submitted claims for laboratory genetic testing services “that were not properly ordered or authorized by physicians” in 2014 and 2015. The company paid $995,500 to resolve the matter but did not admit liability. The settlement agreement was reached without litigation.
