Picking Foster Families by Faith a Challenge to Obama-Era Rules

States are being more lenient about allowing foster-care organizations that receive taxpayer dollars to place kids only in homes of certain faiths.

Texas requested an exemption in December for religious foster-care organizations that require potential foster or adoptive parents to “share a religious faith or agree to the provider’s statement of faith.”

South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster asked the Department of Health and Human Services to waive nondiscrimination requirements for a Christian group that steers foster children to Christian homes, the Washington Post reported.
