Physician Owners of Mental Health Clinic Sentenced in $97M Medicare Fraud Scheme

Two physician owners of a Houston-area mental health care clinic were sentenced Jan. 12 to prison terms for their roles in a $97 million Medicare fraud scheme, prosecutors announced Jan. 12 (United States v. Sanjarsentencing).

Mansour Sanjar and Cyrus Sajadi, owners of Spectrum Care P.A., a community mental health clinic, were each convicted on March 12, 2014, of conspiracy to commit health-care fraud and conspiracy to pay and receive kickbacks, as well as related counts of health-care fraud and paying illegal kickbacks, prosecutors said 50 HCDR, 3/14/14, 18 HFRA 237, 3/19/14.
