Philips Probes Patient Death Link to Ventilator Shutdown

Royal Philips NV is investigating whether there is a link between a patient’s death and a potential malfunctioning of two of the company’s ventilators.

The company said it’s possible that its V60/V60 Plus and V680 ventilator products shut down without setting off an alarm and the patient no longer receives respiratory assistance. The probe is adding to the company’s product woes after some of its sleep apnea devices are being recalled over toxic foam that may cause cancer.
