A Pennsylvania medical provider peer review law shields portions of a conference PowerPoint presentation from discovery in a medical malpractice case, a federal court in the state said.
The “Grand Rounds” conference operated as a peer review committee within the meaning of the Pennsylvania Peer Review Protection Act because it was used to perform a peer-review function—assessing care provided to particular patients—even though it wasn’t specifically designated as such, the US District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania said Wednesday.
