Medicare payments to hospital-based dialysis centers would increase 1.5% in 2026, while standalone clinics would see a 1.9% payment bump under a proposed rule released Monday by the Trump administration.
The proposed rule (RIN 0938-AV52) from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services would boost overall Medicare payments for dialysis facilities 1.9% to $6.9 billion in 2026.
The payment update would support the nation’s 7,600 facilities that treat patients with end-stage renal disease, also known as kidney failure.
The CMS also proposed to update its quality measures, which are used to encourage high-quality care, for dialysis centers.
