Parathyroid Surgeon to Pay $4M Over Medicare Billing Claims

The owner of a Florida parathyroid surgery practice agreed to pay $4 million to settle allegations of falsely billing Medicare and other government programs, the Justice Department announced July 24 (United States ex rel. Gross v. Norman, M.D. Fla., 8:14-cv-00978, motion to intervene for settlement 7/24/17).

James Norman, a surgeon who owns and runs the Norman Parathyroid Center near Tampa, Fla., reached the agreement to resolve allegations raised by a former patient and her husband, Myra and David Gross, who sued Norman in 2014 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida.
