Pakistani Muslim Doctor Loses Ethnic Bias Suit Against Practice

An Illinois surgeon who said he wasn’t invited to become a shareholder in an ear, nose, and throat practice because he is a Muslim of Pakistani ancestry didn’t produce evidence that religious or ethnic bias caused the adverse employment action, a federal court in the state said.

Khurram Rashid didn’t show that a similarly situated employee of Peoria Ear, Nose & Throat Group SC was treated more favorably than he was, the U.S. District Court for the Central District of Illinois said Monday in granting summary judgment for the practice.
