A Connecticut advanced practice registered nurse who was a heavy prescriber of a drug used to treat cancer pain waived her right to indictment and pleaded guilty in federal court to receiving kickbacks in relation to a federal health-care program (United States v. Alfonsoplea entered).
Heather Alfonso of Middlebury, Conn., pleaded guilty June 23 in U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut to one count of receiving kickbacks.
