An anti-abortion group must comply with an Oregon law that requires employers to provide employee health plans that pay for some abortion and contraceptive care because it didn’t show the provision likely violates its constitutional free exercise rights, a federal court said.
Oregon Right to Life’s opposition to abortion didn’t appear to be religiously based, as the employer wasn’t affiliated with any religious practice or institution and didn’t have religious requirements for employees or members, the US District Court for the District of Oregon said Monday.
