One in Five Americans Are Cash-Strapped for Needed Health Care

Nearly one in five Americans are unable to pay for health care if they need it, according to a report released Wednesday.

The report, by the nonprofit West Health and analytics firm Gallup, spotlights the high cost of care in the U.S. despite economic recovery from the coronavirus crisis underway.

“The cost of healthcare and its potential ramifications continues to serve as a burdensome part of day-to-day life for millions of Americans, illustrating the enduring nature of the issue as the U.S. slowly enters the closing stages of the pandemic,” Gallup said in a statement.
