Oklahoma Can’t Block Group’s Letters Opposing School Prayer (1)

Oklahoma lost its bid to forbid a nonprofit group from sending letters to public schools opposing school-sponsored prayers.

The Oklahoma State Department of Education and the state’s superintendent of public instruction, Ryan Walters, failed to show an injury “in fact” from the Freedom From Religion Foundation’s actions and thereby lack standing to sue, said Judge John F. Heil III of the US District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, granting the group’s motion to dismiss the case, albeit without prejudice.
