Ohio State Athletes’ Potential Abuse Damages Narrowed by Court

A federal judge narrowed the types of damages available to hundreds of former Ohio State athletes who say they were sexually abused by physician Richard Strauss while competing for the school.

Judge Michael H. Watson of the US District Court for the Southern District of Ohio said that while the athletes potentially can recover some lost benefits-type damages, it would only be to the extent those damages don’t compensate for emotional distressed caused by sexual abuse.
