The emergency measles order New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio issued will face a legal challenge from those who say the city can’t force people to get vaccinated for the disease.
Michael Sussman, a New York civil rights lawyer, said attorneys are already working on a lawsuit to challenge the April 9 order, which requires unvaccinated individuals in certain affected ZIP codes in the city to receive the measles-mumps-rubella, or MMR vaccine.
“I hope by Friday something is filed,” he said. “I don’t see why there shouldn’t be.”
