Planned Parenthood Federation of America dodged a New York lawsuit claiming one of its providers performed an unauthorized abortion on a teenager in 1996.
New York’s Adult Survivors Act and Child Victims Act didn’t revive plaintiff Yolanda Murray’s time-barred suit, the New York Appellate Division, First Department, said Tuesday. The performance of an unauthorized abortion isn’t the type of sexual misconduct the ASA was intended to reach, the court said.
The Adult Survivors Act, enacted in 2022, gave child victims of sexual abuse whose claims had gone stale one year to file a lawsuit.
