Nursing homes will see an additional $1.4 billion in Medicare “Part A” payments in fiscal year 2025 under a 4.2% rate hike announced Wednesday by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
The final rule (RIN 0938-AV30) also expands the type of civil monetary penalties that can be imposed on nursing homes to allow for more per-instance and per-day penalties for health and safety violations.
In addition, the rule finalizes operational and administrative updates to the nursing home Value Based Purchasing Program and the Quality Reporting Program.
