Nursing Home Ownership Must Be Clarified, Says HHS Proposal (1)

Most US nursing homes would have to provide more detailed public reporting about their ownership structure under a proposed rule designed to shed greater light on the role that private equity and real estate investment trusts now play in the industry.

The HHS proposal (RIN 0938-AU90) announced on Monday goes beyond current data collection requirements and calls for Medicare- and Medicaid-certified nursing homes to report additional information to the federal government about facility owners, operators, and management teams, including those that provide clinical consulting and administrative services to nursing homes.
