Nursing Home Manager Must Answer Wrongful Death, Fraud Suit

Wrongful death and fraud claims will move forward against a Louisiana nursing home management company accused of deliberately understaffing the facility to increase its profits, a federal court said.

A Minden, La., nursing home resident’s children pleaded enough facts to support their claim that Nexion Health Management Inc. intentionally underfunded the facility, leading to a breach of a duty to sufficiently staff it, the US District Court for Middle District of Louisiana said Wednesday.
