Maryland law doesn’t automatically disqualify a registered nurse from serving as an expert witness for the plaintiffs in a nursing home negligence suit, a deeply divided Maryland Supreme Court said Thursday. A nurse is qualified so long as she meets a statutory peer-to-peer requirement by testifying about nursing standards of care and their alleged breach by nurses, Justice Jonathan Biran said.
