A nurse was properly precluded from offering expert testimony because the conduct at issue was “inextricably connected to care provided by physicians,” a Pennsylvania appeals court ruled Jan. 30 in a medical malpractice case (Green v. Pa. Hosp., Pa. Super. Ct., J-A29004-13, 1/30/14).
The Pennsylvania Superior Court said in a non-precedential decision that the trial court didn’t err in refusing to allow a nurse, known only as “Nurse Pierce,” to testify concerning causation of injuries allegedly caused by a hospital nurse who was a defendant in the case.
