Nuns Ask Court to Uphold Exemption From Birth Control Mandate

The Little Sisters of the Poor are urging a federal district court to end a long-running lawsuit challenging the first Trump administration’s final rule exempting religious objectors from Obamacare’s birth control mandate.

Pennsylvania and New Jersey sued to block the Trump rule in 2017, along with a rule exempting entities with morals-based objections, but the case has been on hold since shortly after President Joe Biden took office. The Biden administration never withdrew the religious objector rule, and it’s now been in effect for five years, the Little Sisters told the US District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania ...
