Five insurance carriers have been awarded contracts estimated at about $6 billion per year for up to five years for North Carolina’s impending Medicaid managed care program.
AmeriHealth Caritas North Carolina Inc., Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina, UnitedHealthcare of North Carolina Inc., and WellCare of North Carolina Inc. will provide health coverage for Medicaid recipients throughout the state, while Carolina Complete Health Inc. will provide coverage to beneficiaries in southern regions of the state during the phased roll out of the program starting in Nov. 1.
